Lethbridge, Alberta, what's it like?

Hi all

I'm applying to The University of Lethbridge for next september, has anyone been there or have any info about the place? I know it's about 200 miles from Calgary and has alot of parks, but I wondered if anyone had any personal views on the place. All replies appreciated

Sandyback.

Very windy, small, generally inoffensive.

Very windy at times. The city is growing slowly. Large Indian reserve nearby - so expect to see a few drunk Indians in town.

A former employee of mine lived there for a few years and loved it, but a friend of mine lived there and said it "smelled bad".

PM me for more details as my wife’s cousin is a lecturer there.
I can put you in touch if you want.

Yes, I believe that's the reason. Although Red Deer also has a meat packing plant, and no one ever seemed to smell it - I never did.

Didn't notice a smell in Red Deer, but Brooks certainly stinks when the wind blows the wrong way.

Hi all
thanks for the info. Don't mind the wind, but not sure we'd be able to cope with the smell, both being vegetarians!
What did you study Brodel? I'm hoping to do my teacher training there, if I get good enough results in December (Open Uni), but I need a 3.35 gpa on a 4 scale! Here's hoping...

Congratulations, it must be exciting when you finally get it. Party time eh! Are you looking to relocate over there eventually? I'm going because we've applied for permanent residence and I figured that as I'm going to have to train over there anyway in order to work there, I may as well try to do it as early as possible. Very early stage of the process for me yet, though. Hope it all goes well for you,

Joy.

I'm not sure about relocating permanently, I will have to see how it goes really.

There are a few reasons I wanted to go, partly because I started university in the UK, but didnt like it and left soon after starting. I decided that I liked the way the Canadian system was structured with more flexibility and more rounded courses, and I also wanted the experience of living in another country. That was my main push, the other is that my girlfriend lives in America and after two years at her University in Virginia she was still finding it hard to settle and didnt like the people/area/university etc, so we thought that we could kill two birds with one stone and move together to Canada as the tuition fees were a lot more affordable compared to America, plus it would save on the £1000's we had been spending on flights back and forth.
It's something we have been working towards for the last year so it feels really great to have finally gotten all the official parts out of the way, now we are just waiting for January :) :scared: heh
