Two days of house packing and the container comes tomorrow. Off to Manchester overnight and fly to Van on Friday. Will let you know how it goes. Good luck to the others off soon. Tatty bye! :)

All the best, we're also leavin for Van on Sunday! The shippers have been today and are back tomorrow to finish off. The house is very bare at the moment and the kids have no toys to keep them amused, thank god for colouring books and crayons!

So pleased for you all, good luck with the move/packing/flight and happy landings :beer:

What did you all do for a 'leaving Do'?
We have thought of hiring a room, DJ and food, but not sure whether I want to pay for people to come and say goodbye!! :( :confused:
The other thought was to let everyone know when we would be in our local pub and if they wanted to say goodbye, then they could come and have a beer or two with us :beer:

We went to our local had meal and drinks with family then back to ours, was a great day(4 days before we left). we saw friends for group meals for a few weekends leading up to our departure. Then on the night before we left (early the next morning!!) we told family and friends they were welcome to come round and say goodbye before we left. that way we had a fun meals/drinks out with no real tears!! it was all saved up for the night before we left!
We also said that we did not want anyone coming to the airport as 1) it would have been too emotional 2) it was the first day of our new adventure and we wanted to remember it as a good one.

We had a leaving meal at a pub in Rossendale for Dave's family. Unfortunately my daughter was really poorly being sick so we had to leave early! So we are going for a few drinks on Friday.

Last Saturday we had a leaving party at the house and all our friends offered to make something and bring it. So we had lots of hotpots and pies, trifle and I made pizzas and crusty bread. It cut down the cost somewhat and the pressure was taken off us as we had so much to deal with in the first place. We bought a few cases of lager and wine and the majority brought their own booze :beer: :beer: . It worked really well and everyone had a great time.

We had a party at home the w/e before we left - never knew we could fit 70+ people in our tiny garden! It was summer though which made it much easier so we had a barbie. Still took lots of preperation though which isn't really what you need at the last minute.
Didn't finish until 4am - luckily we invited all the neighbours :)

At the airport was my Dad and sister and brother and it was really hard so would personally now recommend goodbyes somewhere other than the airport.

Best chinese is Neighbourhood Noodle House also on Lonsdale.
Best way for money to disappear from your pocket is London Drugs on Lonsdale.
