Lay-bys. Parking Areas.

Has anyone else noticed a shortage of Lay-by/Parking Areas in Canada.

Whilst driving from Halifax to Prince Edward Island as part of a recent immigration visit we noticed there were very few areas to safely stop and park.
Driving on PEI itself was similar, and, although on occasions I wished I could stop to look at the view there were often no places to do this safely. This seems ironic considering the low density of traffic and I would have imagined that as land is not at such a premium there as in the U.K that this should not have been a problem.
Is all of Canada like this ?

Canadians do not get out of their cars to look at things. They get out of their cars to eat things.

I actually found the opposite...was in the UK a few weeks ago...beautiful scenery, no place to park for miles, and then when there was somewhere it was blocked by a wall or trees or something. I've found MORE places to park and admire the view in Canada.

Don't they have drive-thru Timmies in Quebec then?

Oh, I'm sure we do. It's just not something I pay much attention to.

"dogging" is a relatively recently coinage for public fornication possibly including passers-by.

I see. That's what the couple were doing on on King Edward last Friday. The girl appeared to be lying on her back on the grass, enjoying the sunshine. On closer inspection, she appeared to have four legs. I guess long skirts have their uses.

Cherry Beach is now the primary spot for dogging in Toronto which lends a curious twist to the old hit record "Cherry Beach Express". At the time of the song the police would have been taking the arrestee to Cherry Beach for a beating with truncheons.
