Re: Landing Tomorrow
Well we made it. journey started rather well as we were upgraded by Virgin to First Class , strange as this sort of thing doesn't usually happen to us. Got through US immigration in Chicago easy peasy, just had to queue up for a while but as we had 4 hours to make connection to Winnipeg it wasn't an issue. United flight left terminal 10 minutes late (not bad) and then joined a queue of aircraft at the end of the runway for an hour .
Landing in Winnipeg we got to customs and said we would like to apply for a TWP. The customs guy pointed to a room and asked us to wait in there. We were the only people in the room. After 2 minutes he turned up, asked us for our LMO approval and contract of employment and passports. He had a good look through them all and asked us what our plans were and if we had applied before. We told him that we intend to apply for Employer Driven PNP after 6 months and no we had not applied anywhere else as we had a choice of either applying in London or at POE so due to time factors we decided to apply at POE. He was cool with the whole thing, I did get the impression though that they only process TWP applications once a month as there ended up being 2 immigration guys conferring between each other. We found the whole process simple, we were just very tired at he time so just wanted to get to the hotel and get some sleep. Thats it up to date. Got my new employer coming to collect us from the hotel this morning. It all still seems surreal. Hope this helps, :) George.... |

<pedant alert> Landing refers to someone activating their permanent resident status. It comes form the old name for a permanent resident - a Landed Immigrant. So, technically, as you will be on a TWP you don't land. </pedant alert>
