landing in september, address needed?

Hi all, this has probably been asked already but I cant find it, im landing in late September but can only stay for a short time due to work (or the lack of it) when I land and get stamped and apply for my pr card and sin number, can they be sent to a po box no, as I wont be able to get an address. Or be there long enough to get them, if not how do I get them, and if I leave how do I get back without a pr card.
Thanks for your help Chris

Hi Chris,

Welcome to the forum. If you do a search of the forum, you'll find that this has been discussed before, but basically you can't have it sent to a PO Box as it has to be a residential address. So best to get it sent to friends, employer, or similar.

:)

Hi

We were in the same position but as we had been using an immigration lawyer we used their address. Had no problems and they sent the cards over to us in the UK when they arrived.

Don't know your situation so this may not help!:fingerscrossed: Also don't know where you are landing or you could ask on here if you can use anybodies address.

You can rent a mailbox from ups which has a "proper" or more conventional address i.e suite 123, 1234 first street. We did this with no problem and it proved useful for having our uk mail redirected until we found somewhere more permanent to live. Just google ups store and you should hopefully find one in the area you are looking to settle.

You could always wait till you return to Canada before getting your PR card sent to you. We did this and just explained at the airport that our first trip was to land and we didnt have the PR cards yet - they just sent us to the immigration desk and they checked us on the computer and off we went.

Getting a SIN is a more instant process - you can go to a service canada office in person and get one there and then.

You'll find the nearest on here http://www.theupsstore.ca/locations.aspx?catid=156

It is worth having a proper mailing address.
