Landing in Canada
 

Hi All
I'm coming over to Canada for two week in June to land, and then coming over for good in September. What information am I likely to need when I land for the immigration officers? How do I show proof of funds.
Any help appreciated!!!!!!!!

Perhaps you should try posting this in the immigration canada forum, there are some experts there like Andrew Miller and others that can shed some light on this for you.

For starters, i should think having all your documents, and letters from CHC should be with you at the time. Am sure you know its going to take three months before you get your PR card, without it, you might not be allowed back into the country.

Yeah, there's new rules in place since last December which gives any newly landed permanent immigrants a PR card which allows folks to travel in and out freely. You can apply for a travel document which costs a little extra but I'm not sure how you go about doing this. I don't know if this link would be any help http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/pr%2Dcard/index.html - it looks like you can get a travel doc. from a visa office for $50. There's an FAQ section here http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/pr%2Dcard/prc-issues.html which covers temp. travel document and/or expedited PR card processing.

Re: proof of funds - a bank statement showing funds may be required or some such documentation. Examples in the cic site shows funds can be in the form of cash, travellers cheques, money order etc. As you're landing and then leaving again shortly after I would imagine that they wouldn't expect you to have all your cash with you on landing, but you may need to show that funds are available back in the UK should you need them. (Just my own thoughts though!! ;) )
