Landing 12 months from when?

Hi

Can someone please clarify something for me that I thought I knew. Someone has now told me something different, which has prompted this message.

I understand that you can have up to 12 months before being required to land in Canada. When does the clock start ticking, is it from the date on the letter for the medical requests, the date medicals taken, the date medicals were passed, or date of PPR.

I have heard conflicting views on this.

Cheers

It is my understanding that it's 12 months from the date the medical was taken.

Thanks. That was my understanding, but I have also heard it is from the date the medicals were approved/passed.

Our meds were done April, visa issued June, expiry date month for landing would be July + a year.

Figure that one out !

Helloooooo,
Our visa expiry is dated 12 months from the exact date of our medicals. Not the request.
Can anyone else concur ???

Just a thought....

The date must be when PPR request is made or close thereafter as it would seem illogical to start the clock ticking when approval has not been made. Medicals are not a date when approval is made. PPR request is which can be 2-3 months after - normally anyway...but even after 2 months, post medicals done, further paperwork/interview can be asked for.

Until the Visa stamp goes in nothing is certain

We received our Visas and COPR in November this year. Our visas and COPR documents both state the expire exactly a year to the day after our medicals were actually taken. These were done in August this year, so we have until August 2006 to land.

Graham,

You have 12 months from when your medicals were taken to land, even though it may take months for your visa to actually arrive at your house.

If it takes 4 months for visa to be issued from when you have your meds you have 8 months to land

Hope this helps

Eddie

Agreed, 12 months from the date of the medical. Your other documents may still be valid but you have to enter Canada within 12 months of the examination.
