WELL DONE! and Congrats!
Keep us updated with how it goes, we are aiming for vancouver and considering Kelowna, Kamloops and other places in OK. So happy for you, will be travelling with 3 kids myself so its good to hear it went ok. How was the flight? Manchester was unpleasant though, the worst bit in fact, enough to put anyone off flying. Oh we also used a CARES child restraint as our little one had her own seat that was great for keeping her still and peace of mind too, much easier than messing with a car seat! |
Re: Landed Yesterday
Thanks for update, seat space not really an issue for us as I am 5' 5 and OH is 4' 11. Our children are 13, 11 and 9 and have travel transatlantic a few times before.
No means for the kids:( how did you cope? Did they have films for the kids to watch? Let us know your inpression of Kamloops, have looked at kelowna and looks beautiful which is down the road from kamloops. Big goodluck from all of us on settleing in at kamloops. |

Finally did it, arrived at Vancouver yesterday.
The goodbyes were fun yet tough, funny how you don't really know how others feel about you until your about to leave the country. Manchester airport Crappy, Vancouver airport refreshing. Immigration officers warm and pleasant and informative:thumbup:, didn't want to see my goods to follow list, i did ask twice. Attached my B4 goods accompanying to another form which they marked "see attached" saying they used a different one at Vancouver. No bags checked straight through. Travelling with two kids was the only tricky part. came via Thomas Cook / Canadian Affair. Initially planned to upgrade to Premium but could not justify the extra £850 (4 seats) instead just got stung £160 for being 16kg over on bag weight. Odd not being here as tourists this time around. Different feel, but to be expected i guess. Come Monday we're onward to Kamloops, our ultimate destination. Hopefully feeling a little refreshed.:) Just a couple of questions. Did they ask to see evidence of funds and what did you show them? If they didnt ask to see it, did you have evidence of funds on you in case they ask? |

Congratulations and welcome to Canada!

Already hot on landing at 7.40 a.m Need to find our feet, rather different than country life in Powys. Vast scenery, quiet roads, pace of life already appears much slower. Been to see sports centre and swimming pool yesterday, very impressive facilities. Hired a car late yesterday so day of exploring today:fingerscrossed:

The only evidence of cash we had, as already knew didn't need to show due to arriving with job offer (letter shown) was cash in wallets. As a matter of interest after arriving at Vancouver airport to catch internal flights to Kamloops my opinion of Manchester airport has been further downgraded. Vancouver airport and staff incredibly friendly and efficient, the environment first rate:thumbsup: |
Re: Landed Yesterday
WoW I am very impressed when people travel fully loaded with kinds on tow, This will be your warmest summer you have ever seen, Kamloops is a very nice area, you have a job offer ? what kind of work do you do ?
|
Re: Landed Yesterday
Agree, would be interested in what kind of job sector you work in. I am interested in kamloops and Kelowna because of the more country pace of life (not really a city person) but am worried about find work in these areas so looking at vancouver.
We have thought abou the premium upgrade but I do wonder whether it is worth it as in standard you get the TV with some channels. Leg room as mentioned before is never an issues as we are all under 5' 6. What else do you get for your money? Last time we went to Canada we went with Air anada and it was truely misareble. But we were comparing it to other tranatlantic flights with BA and Virgin. |

Other than the priority check in and 30kg luggage allowance i believe you get complimentary refreshments, the extra 3 tv channels, the nose and belly aircraft camera views rather than just the map of your route and the complimentary headset, but they only cost £2.50 anyway. We passed through the premium cabin when boarding and the seats didn't look much better at all. Considering a £850 price hike for family of four it didn't seem that much and i am glad we flew economy. |
