Kiwilass Is In the Yukon...
for the next 2.5 months. And on the very off chance anyone is planning to emigrate/wants to know more about the Yukon, I"m up for research. Just holler.

Actually, the bugs aren't bad at all! No worse than Van. They were much worse in the interior!

It is stunningly pretty in the summer. Soul destroying in the winter, though. My eldest son flies up there on Friday for six weeks with the Army cadets. He can't wait (being the outdoorsy type).

Yeah. i hear the winters are loooooong. Beautiful place though, and lots of well paid people thanks to federal money.
Had a moment today where I took my 5 year old to the park and I was the only parent there all the other kids were there unsupervised...and totally unfazed. So much more freedom for the kids up here..I've never seen that in Van (young kids w/o parents).
mandymoo- OH is shooting a movie up here. Canadian western.

Gawd I hope not, Brokeback 1 was boring enough. Did a stroll around Whitehorse today with the kid. Caught the bus into town (surprisingly, there's reasonable transit). There's a decent library, a montessori preschool, starbucks, cafes, crunchy stores, macckers etc all in pretty 19th century gold rush wooden buildings...they've kept all the original architecture and it saves the town from looking like the typical strip mall ugliness you see so often. I like it so far.
