Aw I am sure it is no shed for 1.3 million, probs with me is I value people as much as property. This is why I want to chose albeit rental pad intially in the most informed area.

Also, my burning question that has yet to be answered is how badly do the winters effect people socially. I enjoy going out with my kids, hubby and mates my only concern is months where you are house bound...I am sure it's just an unfounded worry.

It depends on what you like to do...there are lots of restaurants, activities for kids (no end of things for them to do indoors in the winter and outdoors) and parents. Believe me, a snowstorm in Ottawa does not paralyze the City like the similar amount of snow in the UK.... The winter is quite sunny and if you dress warmly in layers, it isn't that bad.

One word of warning...get snow tyres and don't bring up the topic of block heaters in this forum.

believe me it is a 2000 sq ft shed....wooden weatherboard....we got a 'deal' as it cost well below bc assessed value and was land value only.......all 8045 sq ft of it..........if we had bought at the height of the boom last year it was valued for $1.78m...........i've lived in wooden sheds before in new zealand so i have experience...........good luck with your house hunt,at least it will be a 'proper' house...............cheers

Yep! what he said :)

Been here 10 years and can get as bad as -40 with the wind chill. Jan/Feb are probably the worst months. Just dress in the appropriate manner, and get out and have fun with it. There are many things to do that makes the winter not seem so bad (at times!!) my kids love it and we, as a family enjoy many winter activities, both indoors and out.

Bet Michael Jackson would pay top $$$$$$ to be put on ice at -40!! :)

It's as good as it gets without venturing to the dark side......
