Kamloops

My wife and I are off to Kamloops for a fact collecting exercise early in the new year.

Is there anyone out that way that could recommend places worth visiting while we are out there? All work and no play would be pretty dull.

Any-one give me a brits view of Canadian pubs? I found that there are at least 4 pubs rather than bars in Kamloops and will be paying a visit to each.

Pubs in BC (well Vancouver, never tried any in the interior). I couldn't use your poll as they didn't cover a few things I think are brillient

1) NO SMOKING!! :D Great, I can have a great night out, not worry about everything having to go straight in the wash after wards and not having to shower / bath when getting home :)

2 ) Free (or heavily discounted) soft drinks :D for the designated drivers. I know I've said it before but the first night I was out and was just drinking coke I queried my bill ($2.50 for the night) to the great amusement of the server.

3) I quite like the fact that the server comes to you. Makes the whole process effortless! :)

Downsides:.. :( crap cider (mind you, I've got used to them, but they are just like alco pop!!), expensive decent beer :o( But experiment, some of the micro breweries are okish.

Oh, and don't forget to tip the server! A friend of mine is a server and from her tip (of say 10%) she has to give 25% to the bar tender and 25% to the chef ... so if you don't tip she's out of pocket :(

For BC Cider Lovers:

There's a REAL BC cider that is a wonderful, old-world dry cider, its's called Merridale and its made on Vancouver Island.

See:

www.merridalecider.com/

It's available at many private wines stores (like the new one on 4th Ave near Capers), or International Wines on Broadway (and MacDonald).

Try asking for it by name in other BC locations

Cheers!
