Jury Service
We have our COPR but have not yet landed. We are still on TWP until we land. My husband has been summoned to do jury service early January. Can he do it. I wouldn't have thought so?

Re: Jury Service
I dont think I am eligible to serve as a juror. What do I do?
An online questionnaire is available to determine your eligibility for jury duty. If you find you are not qualified, or if you fit into a category that may be excluded or exempted, fill out the bottom portion of your summons titled 'Application To Be Excused' and return it to the Jury Management office named on the summons:

Re: Jury Service
Thank you so much. That's straight forward enough. He is not eligible because he isn't a citizen.

Q. please define a 'jury trial'
A. having your fate decided by 12 people who weren't smart enough to get out of jury duty

Re: Jury Service
It looks like it may be up to the individual to prove they are not eligible.
I didn't get past the first page on the eligibility test. 3 questions
Are you a resident of Alberta - yes
Are you under 65 years of age - yes
Are you a Canadian Citizen - no
You are not eligible and must complete the application to be excused on your summons.
If you did serve on a jury without being a citizen, would it impede any future citizenship application I wonder?

even worse, was the verdict sustainable?
could it be thrown out on a technicality?

Re: Jury Service
My wife has been called for jury duty 3 times in the last 5 years, and been excused each occasion due to not being a citizen.
