A Journeyman is what you would call a time served tradesman.

Happy Easter to you too.:)

In some trades, such as a joiner, a person who is time served in the UK will be considered as a journeyman tradesman in Canada. In other trades, such as an electrician, they won't. Health and safety regulations, or local building code, may specify that an installation is made by a certified (i.e. Canadian certified) journeyman electrician.

But for anyone interested in tranfering there skills from uk to canadian must first contact the correct department in which ever area you are heading to.
If you are looking at ontario then its the ministry of training, if alberta then the AAIT will gladly help.

It may help if we know what trade you are in and where you are heading.....

O and Happy Easter :thumbsup::thumbsup:

In addition, there are "inter-provincial" journeymen, which gives them entitlement to operate anywhere in Canada. Depending on the trade there are different standards of practice in different provinces.
