John Mason Ltd vs PSS
Hello, has anyone used John Mason or PSS to move? I have had quotes from both and John Mason are the cheapest.
If anyone has experience of either company I would be grateful if you could let me know how it went and if you would recomend them. Thanks |

If anyone has experience of either company I would be grateful if you could let me know how it went and if you would recomend them. Thanks We have just used John Mason to ship a sole use 20 ft container from Bournemouth Dorset to Moncton NB via Halifax, NS. We had quotes from PSS and John Mason and a few more. John Mason and GB Liners were the cheapest . John Mason took a little more off to compete and we gave them the job. The English side were great. They sent three guys to wrap and pack over two days. They were quick and efficient. The estimator had done his job well. We could have probably squeezed in a couple more boxes at a push, so he had estimated our stuff well. Some companies want to take your stuff and wrap and pack a their warehouse, but JM do it all at your home and bring the container to you. It was supposed to sail on 10 May and land in Halifax around 22 May, but somehow it went on a later ship and didn't dock until 29 May. I am not sure whether JM would have had any control over that. This side they use a company called Campbells in our area. They were fine up to a point. I think they subcontracted it out to a firm to bring it to NB. When We tried to arrange delivery my husband pointed out that we had paid out for a door to door service and for the furniture to be unwrapped and packaging removed. He also pointed out that we had some machines that were really heavy and was he sending enough people or a tail gate lorry for the job. The man we were now dealing with said that he hadn't quoted for that but consulted his paperwork and realised his mistake. He reasured us that he would look after us. However when after a few days he hadn't been in touch we called and he spoke about being very busy but not to worry. We felt we were being put on the back burner. We phoned JM in England who were very helpful and received an email from Campbels the same day and also a call from our delivery man. We were then given a firm date and they guys who came and unloaded and unwrapped were really good and all our stuff was in good shape. I would certainly use them again if I were to undertake such a move in the future (which I don't anticipate doing) Well thats our story with JM. Hope it helps Penny |

We used John Mason (based in Liverpool) for our Manchester to Winnipeg move. we had a full 20 ft container and the guys were fantastic. They wrapped everything even my lawnmower. They were not the cheapest quote but they knew their stuff. Nothing was broken or damaged and Atlas on the Canadian side were equally as good, they unwrapped all the large items beds, wardrobes, sofa's etc. From packing to unpacking took 6 weeks, we took posession of our house on Thursday and we moved in on the Saturday.

I used John Mason to move about 20 boxes plus some other odds and ends that didn't fit in boxes like guitars and golf clubs. Had no problems with them and they used the AMJ Campbell company in Toronto who were also good. They had someone to meet at customs to sign and realease everything and they delivered to our apartment and carried everything up the stairs etc. No problems and nothing damaged etc.

We used PSS to move from Poole Dorset to Prince Albert in SK.
Full load 20 ft container. Excellent service both in the UK and from the Company they used in SK. The guys in the Uk wraped and packed for 2 days, not one item was brokern when we un-packed and all the large items had no damage. Not cheap but you get what you pay for. Andy |

Re: John Mason Ltd vs PSS
We used John Mason back in 2005- Huddersfield to Toronto, then Toronto to Sudbury was handled by AMJ Campbell. We had a very bad experience in that my piano, which I'd had since the age of 9, had been dropped and was very badly damaged. Also loads of our ornaments were damaged beyond repair.
We got some money back from the insurance, but it didn't go any way to compensating- as you can imagine! Hilary www.truecanada.ca All that you can dream |
