Job for the jobless Indians/foreigners who land in Canada
Hi,
I'm a male (single) from india(mumbai) im my late 20's aspiring to work in Canada.
Qualifications -
>Graduation - B.sc
>Post graduate in Packaging Science technology (2 years full time from Mumbai)
>Post graduate in Business Administration [major:marketing] (2 years full time from Mumbai)
>2.5 years of Work experience in the field of sales and marketing out of which 1 year was in Africa.
__________________________________________________ __________________________________________________ __________________________________________________ ___
As u can see from above i've total 3 degrees out of which 1 is MBA/pgdba.Not a huge work experience, but i expect to at least start a modest humble beginning in canada.
As per my experience + qualifications i dont think i fall under the 'technical skilled worker' category.
After evaluation of my CV i've beign told by an agency here in Mumbai that i've fulfilled the 67 points target and i'm entitled for the job code of 'senior marketing consultant'.
Pals, please assist me in guiding as to what r my chances of getting a job in canada.
I'll be landing in that part of canada where the probablity of getting job is high,so pls guide.
After landing in what period of time can expect a job?
Any parttime jobs for earning i can start with?
What is it i've to earn there per month in order to fulfill my basic needs such as rent, electricity, water bills, food, clothes, conveyance etc?
How should i start hunting for jobs when i land there especially when i dont know any 1 there?

Re: Job for the jobless Indians/foreigners who land in Canada
There is a part of canada where the chances of landing a (decent) job are high at the moment? Where is this Utopia cos its news to me!
As I mentioned in the other thread in the immigration area, the wiki is a good place to start with info on job seeking etc. Things like how long it takes, what sort of minimum income and the like are impossible to say on an individual basis, sometimes people find work immediately, preferably before arriving, sometimes they are still looking for a decent job after years. I would think you need at least a couple of thousand a month to get by on if paying big city rents, but maybe there are corners you can cut if you arent too fussy about where you live and with whom.
To give an idea of minimum incomes, the mimimum wage in Ontario is $10ish an hour, so After tax something like 17.5k for those lucky enough to do it full time. Thats ~$1500 a month. I guess the government figures you can scrape by on that. I wouldnt want to.
Casual low paid jobs at places like Tim Hortons are available, but often its who you know that will get you one. Thats equally true of the kind of job you probably have in mind to make it worth while emigrating.
Why do you want to move to Canada?

Re: Job for the jobless Indians/foreigners who land in Canada
first question: are you eligible for a visa? having a job code is pretty meaningless unless the code is on the skilled workers shortage list

Re: Job for the jobless Indians/foreigners who land in Canada
From what you've said on your other thread, you'll need a job offer to get a visa, and will therefore need a Labour Market Opinion as well - for which the employer has to prove that they have advertised the job across Canada and been unable to find a Canadian willing, or able, to do the job.
Once you've got a job offer, and LMO, you can then apply for a Temporary Work Permit, but this ties you to the one job and you cannot therefore find 'part-time work' as you've mentioned - you cannot work in any other job.
So have a read of the Job Hunting section of the Wiki, but do be aware that you won't be 'landing' and then job hunting, you'll need a job offer before you can move to Canada.
Good luck.

"the job" can take months......if you want minimum wage stuff initially then there is stuff going on.
Basic needs = depends on situation but we (me & wife) have a budget of $3000 per month which covers rent (3 bed house), bills and food. We dont get out much at moment (1 or 2 nights a month) unless going to friend's houses.
W.R.T to finding work assuming you get over here without one. You have to contact every agency and register with them once you are here. They normally ask to see you to fill in forms. The more you register with the better the chances but they may only offer minimum wage jobs
