;) :confused: hi Canadian kids/future Canadian kids,just a quick question,if you are asked for a interview is that a good thing or bad?would it be in London(I'm in Shropshire) and what do they wont to know.how long is it and any tips if we get one

Hi

Usually bad in the sense that there was a problem with your application and the interview is held to clear up the problem. It adds processing time to your application. If you are called for an interview, it is time to apply for your CAIPS notes to find out what the problem is and how to prepare for it.

Hi, we had an interview - in London - we thought oh no what do they want? We went armed with everything we could think of. Got reference letters from my husbands work and mine, money detials and all education certificates. When we got there they were running about an hour late, we were finally called in and were only in there for about 15mins. The lady went through some of our paper work asked a few questions and typed away on her computer. She asked us to send the kids long birth certificates to her and landing fees, and then our medical paper work would be in the post. We stressed for weeks leading up to the interview but she was very pleasant.

We have our visas and have just sold the house so we hope to be in Canada early October :D

I'm glad someone had a reasonable interview as we too had one and it was hideous :scared: . I've never met a canadian here that has been as rude. Our interview wasn't that late and she gave him an innapropriate programming test, questioned every single document we showed her including jobs he could apply for we found on monster etc and seemed utterley unable to understand that someone could learn new things without going to univeristy. We were in there for a good hour and personally I left feeling humiliated and 'rejected' . As a result of this interview we applied and were accepted to Dunedin University NZ but our PR paperwork came through two days after we paid the money!

Advice is spot on....get your CAIPS notes and find out why. It may just be something small and silly but at least you can prepare.

Much depends on whether you are applying under 'Family Class' or skilled worker etc. I applied under Family class, my wife to be being Canadian. I expected an interview as a matter of course...and thats what happened. Lady (in London) was very pleasant and professional...and thorough! They have a job to do and in effect, are 'investigators. In my case, she had to satsify herself that my application was genuine, and not simply a ruse to gain entry to Canda e.g....a marriage of convenience. I looked on the interview as my oportunity to sell myself...and be open to being quizzed of every detail of my application...and I was.
I got my visa...so the 1 hour and 15 minute 'grilling' was worth it.

Don't be too despondant if you do get called for interview...many applicants (succesful ones too) get interviewed, so look on it as a challenge...and potentially, the final step towards that visa!
