Insurance Recommendation, AB

hey guys! Mods, if this is in the wrong place or whatever, feel free to move it

so today, i managed to purchase my first Canadian car (a Honda Ridgeline if anyones interested :) )

after reading all the horror stories on here, i was prepared for the worst, especially after an online quote for fully comprehensive cover came out at $4800. with me being under 25, its just an insurers worst nightmare really!

so after lurking around the interwebs i was put onto Bill Eckhart at Touchstone insurance in Calgary.

After a brief conversation on the phone, he explained to me that they'd be happy to accept my proof of UK NCB from Aviva, and my UK Counterpart as a driving abstract to prove zero convictions!

The quote came back at $1800 for fully comp, with full liability and collision coverage, which is essentially what i was paying in the UK anyway!

They've also managed to temporarily insure me on my UK license until i've managed to move into my apartment in Calgary to be able to change my license over for an Alberta one!

So yeah, Bill has been amazing help all through the process and a really nice guy in general!

Give him a call or an email, he's given me permission to post his details here!

their website is www.touchstoneinsurance.ca

hope this can help some people who're struggling to find reasonably priced insurance!

I got the name of a brilliant broker here in AB and our insurance is half of what yours is (I do have 9 years no claims, am a fair bit older than you and have a very safe and not sporty medium SUV which will prob be making up the difference)

Don't forget too - if you do your home insurance with the same firm you get a discount.

So there are good brokers out there - if anyone wants the details of my broker PM me.

i'm just in that unfortunate bracket of being under 25 and in love with high powered Hondas! :(

back in the UK, i'd never paid less than £1000 for insurance and i've been driving since 2005!

Tried admiral and the minute i told them i had a Supercharged Civic Type-R they hung up the phone on me...

luckily being an apprentice and living with my parents gave me a lot of disposable income hahah....
