Infomation on moving to Canmore

Hi,
If anyone has got any advice and info on Canmore we would love to hear about it. My partner and I are planning to move to Canmore and would love people’s opinions on the place. I am a beauty therapist and my partner is a pharmacist, advice on work, salary etc? Also can anyone give advice on good long term house rental for Canmore area?

Look forward to hearing any advice given.

Are you guys currently in Canada or are you elsewhere? Are you PR's or citizens of Canada?

Canmore's expensive to live in and you might struggle to find work.

Hi, my husband and I have lived in Canmore 7 yrs this July. We love it !!
It's an amazing place to live, highly desirable and the cost of living here reflects that. You don't say wether you are emigrating or coming over on a work permit.
Either way, there are many opportunities for a beauty therapist, there are so many spas here and hotels finding a job should be easy! As for you're partner being a pharmacist, there are a fair few pharmacies in Canmore. Canmore is an expensive place to live so some jobs like a pharmacist are difficult to fill so you have a good chance of a job. Have you checked to see if the Canadian
government accept his British qualifications ? Our daughter is a bio-medical scientist and would have to resit here to qualify. As for salary I can't help
sorry. Long term rentals are easy to get in Canmore and depending on what you're looking for you can get some REALLY nice places....for a price of course.
There ARE private rentals but the two main rental companies are called PEKA .
Email - [email protected]. They have a website so you can look online. The other one is Asset west. Email - <snip> I strongly suggest going through either of the companies as they have to adhere to rules and regulations which will protect you in the long run.
Hope this post helps you in someway. If you need anymore info just ask.
I hope everything goes ok for you and you're partner. You will certainly not regret living in Canmore !!

Heather just about covered it...... The two main supermarkets, Safeway & Sobeys have pharmacies along with Shoppers Drug Mart and Rexall.... Biggest issue would be qualification transfer.

We have been living in Canmore for 18months now and love it. If you have any other specific questions, ask away.....

What made you choose Canmore?

It's a lovely place .... We just spent the day there, ....... but unless you have employment arranged, I'd hesitate to choose it as a place to start out in Canada.

Take a look at the cost of housing.

If they are only looking to rent, and can find work in Beauty Therapy and Pharmacy, I would say that the cost of housing is not too bad..... Especially when you consider the lifestyle and everything that is available for free on your doorstep.

Buying property is another story..... You do get a lot less in square footage for your dollars than in suburban Calgary.

For me the access to the mountains far outweighed the size of the house.
