You will go thirsty if you don't plan ahead.....no liquior stores open on Sunday! The business of sunday shopping is something you just get used to...you won't miss it. Who wants to shop on Sunday anyway!

imagine the scenario, lazy sunday, wake up, really nice day
- hey lets have an impromptu barbeque & invite soem friends over
(because we hate shopping esp ikea....)

as we live life on 'the edge' we have'nt planned for this/loaded up fridge with wings & alexander keiths, so we'll nip down the store & pick up some supplies
..... doh , we live in the heaving metropolis/super city/hrm

let's wander around spring garden for a few hours instead, i hear london drug is doing a good discount on reeces pieces, or we could always go to Chapters with the family instead & drink over-priced coffee

Oh ok. So as you live live so much on the edge if you dont have the opportunity to wander around Sobeys buying burgers and steaks and then to the liquor store to buy booze your day is ruined as there is nothing else to do in Halifax. Poor chap. Your probably better off in Aberdeen. Enjoy.

what is there to do in Halifax then ?

i was there for a year, maybe i missed the gig ?

ps beaver don't surf

i had the season long martock ski-pass & done it to death
i don't take photos of trees changing colour in the fall
i played 'soccer' but the season is pretty short
i saw almost every decent movie when they came out
i tread the boardwalk weekly in the hope of inspiration
i visited peggys cove & the gift shop
i walked the downtown streets on a sunday (bit like the movie 28 days later)
i visited all the boozers/cafes/music venues etc
i went to the (not very close at all) beaches
i swam in chocolate lake
i visited a porn shop on quinpool
i bought a bike on quinpool & rode it around the metro area
i walked across the ice one night on the north-west arm
i went to the international festival & greek festival
i visited/jogged point pleasant park every freaking weekend
(i enjoyed watching the containers being unloaded)
i joined the library & ate chips from spud van outside
i attended the jazz festival
i know the citadel like the back of my hand
i sat on the grass in spring garden, & got told off by the 'parkie'
(there are not that many parks btw)
i bought a book of walks within hrm, & walked them
drove to louisburg (sp ?) in cape breton for the old town re-creation
went canoeing/kayaaking - camping in kejumujilk (sp ?) national park
drove to montreal for the hell of it
flew to new york ditto
i researched the halifax explosion, probably because i found it the most
interesting thing about the place

Forgive me but the last time I visited Aberdeen I had to leave within the hour as a felt an overwhelming suicidal depression. Fun place.
Give me Halifax any day.

Sounds as though you did a lot. What keeps you occupied in Aberdeen then?

Where are the nicest areas to buy a house? All of the suburbs look nice but are there any which are more popular with newcomers that have nice pubs and restaurants without having to drive miles. Again, any info most welcome.

We spent months researching and visiting various areas in HRM and ended up building a property in Fall River. Its ideally placed for access to both Halifax and Dartmouth and only about 20 mins to downtown. Lots are big and there are plenty of Brits settling there. If you need any other info let me know.
