Importing Car from the UK

I have a 1993 US VW Golf convertible sold as new in Atlanta GA to a Brit couple who used it there for 3 years, then brought it to the UK when they returned. I bought the car in 2003.
I am contemplating taking it with me when we move to Canada.
Anybody else imported a car from the UK?
It is on the allowed list to import from the USA, but obviously it is not going to arrive from the US, but the UK - would this be a problem and what else should I be aware of? Any import duties etc?

Rob.

Assuming you are coming as a PR, there will be no duties. Just ensure that that the car was made for the US market. You may have difficulty getting the recall notice from the manufacturer, so you better start now. I assume that you have looked at RIV ? all the fees are listed there as well as the costs and the modifications usually required. http://www.riv.ca/english/html/how_to_import.html
