Default Implied Status (Visa expired) & BC MSP Healthcare

Has anyone ended up in the same position I just found myself in?

I'm living in BC, was on a study visa which expired on July 1st. I applied for an extension, still waiting to hear back so currently on implied status.

The BC provincial health CareCard I had expired when the study visa did, and they won't reactivate it without a further immigration document. This is a real pain as I'm in a situation where I need it to be active.

Has anyone been in a similar place and somehow proved to the BC MSP that they're still legally allowed to be resident with a document? When they issue an extension to a visa do they even send an updated document (mine is only going to be a 3 month extension anyway).

Any advice would be great!
