Default Immigration to Canada and tax/mortgages

Hi all

I just wanted to let you guys know that I am hooked up with a reputable immigration firm in Toronto, as well as a cross border/international tax specialist. If anyone wants their info I would be more than happy to pass on.

I myself am a mortgage agent ( broker), so again if any of you out there want my help/advice- I would be more than happy to help.

I would also be happy to place an ad on this site( not in classifieds but on main page) if I knew who to contact!

Default Re: Immigration to Canada and tax/mortgages

Could you ask your international tax specialist if S 56(1)(C.1) of the Income Tax Act applies to the tax-free lump sum that servicemen/women receive on retiring from the British military, if they are tax resident in Canada when they receive the sum?

It is a matter of concern to many posters on this site and I can't find a definitive answer.

Thank you.
