Immigration to Canada
Hi
I got a couple of quick question(s) about Immigration to Canada: 1) I am currently studying in USA as a Foreign student. Can I apply for Canadain Immi while i am in USA? 2) I am Computer sCience student. I have almost 2years of experience as COmptuer Consultant. What are the chances for me getting Canadian Immigration? Are COmputer Programmers in Demand in CanaDa? 3) How long whole Process takes ? 4) Do i need Police Certificates from my home country as well? Thanx in Advance Bye |

You might also want to post this in the immigration canada forum, there are some experts there, that are more qualified to answer this for you. Form what you have told us, your only chance of coming here, is as a skilled worker. The fact that you are a computer science student, and have 2yrs experience doesn't mean anything here. Am in this field myself, and i can tell you now that IT people are ten-a-penny, most of the jobs at my place are advertised internally. Good luck though, but i wouldn't hold my breath, unless you a good sychronized swimmer :D :D |

Good luck though, but i wouldn't hold my breath, unless you a good sychronized swimmer :D :D The CIC sytem is not job specific anymore, so availability of IT jobs is not an issue to getting into the country if you still want to come for lifestyle rather than career reasons. Hhowever it is worth noting that the point system for Skilled worker is set up to favour graduates, so first complete your degree. Where to apply from? If you think you will still be legally alowed to be in the states for the whole application process (several years), then apply from there, but remember, if you dont have the points to apply untill you graduate, plus at least one years *continuous* work experience (no you cant add all your internships together), then you cant apply until you have done all this. Without knowing all the details, it would probably be better to apply from your country of citizenship. Yes, you will need police certificates from everywhere you have lived, CIC has exact details. IIRC going back until you were 18, or ten years, whichever is longer. Good luck, and like mick advised, ask in the immigration forum for an expert opinion Iain |
