I guess some of us need more time to adapt your right about GB being dirty ,etc..and aggressive ..although I do find Canadian people overly friendly, which is a good thing as they havnt had to deal with the problems people of the UK have over the past 40 years.

I understand fatcats points of view too and Im sure given time they would have adapted , its all so frustrating going through this whole process of PR one way or another .

One more thing you forgot to add though about the downside of the UK is TV licence LOL ...people here couldnt believe we have to pay for one .

I think Fatcat has been in Canada for 3 years. He has been treated badly by Canadian red tape though. Overfriendly is wonderful. It can be naive when they visiting the UK.

Quite agree with you,the laid back way can be irritating at times but overall I will gladly accept it over the British society any day.

I anticipated you were going to suggest that. If you will remember I suggested people look at the stats. You obviously did not and you assumed that I have not either so here you go.

As I said, no generalisation which means no irony. Just stats my friend.

I don't find it irritating. I find it charming and stress free. I love Canada, it's people and I feel lucky that I can be laid back because it means I now enjoy my life to it's fullest. This is beautiful people.

ANYWAY!!

Sorry to hijack this Fatcat. I just couldn't standby. I wish you all the best for the future, I hope that you, your son and your family live the great life you have worked hard to provide for and if some day you can comeback we will be here to support you anyway we can. Cheers mate. All the best. God speed!

Roxye3, thank you for putting this so well. I couldn't but agree more with your sentiments.

Fatcat, I do wish you and your family a great return to the UK, and that life starts to look a little more rosy soon.

It is sometimes simpler to blame a 'country' for one's woes, when in fact it is just a set of circumstances, bureaucratic red tape and frustrating problems that have hindered us. If you have stuck it for over 2 years, I'm sure that you will also have some good Canadian memories that you will be taking with you?

Very best thoughts for the future

I would gladly pay double the Uk licence here if it meant you could scrap all Canadian tv and watch British tv instead

I'm going to spending a few days in Henley on Thames next week. I am pretty sure it is no more aggressive (whatever this means), dirty, or overcrowded than Toronto. Even without looking at the stats I think I am less likely to be shot.
I don't find there to be much difference between the services provided through Property Tax/Council Tax (the poll tax is long gone) in the UK and Canada.
