Nothing. There are other things in my life I wish I had done differently (e.g. doing a different degree and taking university more seriously) but I have no regrets about my moves. I wish I had had time to emigrate to Australia or New Zealand but sometimes life is too short to do all the things you want to do.

I'm pretty sure I speak for my OH too, we would have done it all different - if at all.

I honestly think I had it as easy as its possible to be short of having the welcoming arms of family waiting for me. It was just me, no wife or kids then to worry about, I had a job waiting for me and they were very good for helping me settle, had a long term hotel room and car rental already sorted for me and everything.

Maybe the only thing I would have done different is to resist the temptation to splurge on a brand new jeep lease straight away when I got here and got an old beater instead, but no real regrets.

Glad to have given living in Canada a go (better to have tried, than to have always wondered what life would have been like over here).

Of course there are things I love, and things I hate. Biggest hate is the amount of time spent at work - don't get to see much of Canada. Whats the point? Could be doing these hours back home and visiting Canada at leisure.

Well, we could be living in the UK West Country right now .... still thats our plan.

If I could turn back the clocks I would have applied sooner. From having the idea to actually arriving in NS it took us about 5 years!!! We're still only on TWP so roughly 6 years total until PR! That meant 5 years of day dreaming about a different life rather than just getting on with it!!!

:(

+1 :)

Probably not!

You bet I'd do it again. In a heartbeat. Fortunately I have never been "homesick" or had any desire to return to the UK except for visits.

+1 on that!

Wouldn't have done much else different. Would have hoped for better luck on house sale/exchange rate/being made redundant from my first job, but those were largely events outside of my control.

Yes. I think overall we are better off here, although there was nothing wrong with the Cotswold village we moved from. There are elements of it I miss but not enough to up sticks back there without cause.

I'd have shipped my espresso machine at the same time I moved. Living without it for 3 months was hell.

We would have saved more money in preparation for coming over...starting from scratch totally cleared our savings out when we got here.

Also wouldn't have bought our previous house in the UK, no matter how much of a bargain it was at the time. Now we can't shift the place and have the stress of renting the bugger out from abroad. Grrr. Still, you live, you learn.

On reflection, I would have gone to America.

I went to America first. It was OK at the time and for folk our ages then without kids. I am extremely pleased that we didn't stay there after these circumstances changed.
