What is the difference between IELTS General and Academic ?

My wife did general but now we've been told she needs CELBAN or IELTS Academic scores !

Oh well :-(

Thanks,

Frasser

For what? If it's for a visa app then she must take the General, not sure about anything else though.

Believe his spouse is a nurse.

Yes we did the general, but like PMM says she is a nurse so she now needs to do CELBAN or IELTS Academic.

Just trying to find out the difference between the general and academic and then make a decision on best way forward.

Thanks

She probably is required to speak, write and listen English with a posher accent.

Re: IELTS

The IELTS academic and general are basically the same (same timings, etcs) but the reading and writing components are a bit more academically focused. In Alberta a nurse would need to take the IELTS academic rather than general simply because that's what CARNA (the governing body) accepts.
