I am a muppet - please confirm

Eventually found out that the delay in receiving our PPR has been that London did not receive our Bank Draft (for Right of Permanent Residence Fee).

Sent it at the beginning of July, after doing medicals at the end of May, but alas, just popped it in the post box.

Not recorded delivery - just assumed it would get there, and that it being a bank draft, was fairly safe.

Now regretting that decision, as I think it has cost us at least 5 weeks, probably 8 by time we get a new draft sorted out.

Hmmm....might change my name to Kermit.:(

Why do you have to use bank drafts anyway? They are a right chew on!

Am I correct in thinking there is no other way to pay?

Is it possible to visit the London office with a draft, and get the visas put in your passports in one day? He asked, hopefully, but knowing that it is fairly unlikely....

Some instituions also accept postal orders (ie; you pay at the post office at whatever the conversion rate is that day and they transfer the amount to whomever recipient) but I always thought it just as incovenient & almost as expensive as bankers drafts anyway. I would have thought that paying by Visa or Mastercard Credit Card would have been accepted as they are international credit cards, but of course, they may want to make sure you dont complain & get refunded off your CC as usually Visa & Mastercard can request refunds of payments within 30 days from the supplier (who you paid) so they may not want that hassle. Other then paying cash in person and getting a written & signed receipt of payment, I dont see any other more fast or secure way to pay unfortunately. :sneaky:

Re: I am a muppet - please confirm

I applied for spousal visa and i was able to pay online via credit card. I did it through the cic website got a receipt off the website and sent that it with my application. not sure if you can do it with other classes of visa.
www.cic.gc.ca
Looking on the website does look like it may only be family class immigration that can pay online

regards

Once you have paid ROLF you have to wait for them to request that you send in your passports to have the visa put in.
You can take them in person to London on a Thursday at a set time (can't remember now what time) and hand in passports. They will give you a rerceipt and you have to return two weeks later to collect it.
They won't do it same day.

Dear Gonzo,

Sorry to hear that you have had problems but glad they are now being sorted out.

Consider your "Muppetry" confirmed.

May all your problems be no more than glove puppets.

It was a draft for $980 (2 adults).

Barclays are in the process of cancelling the original draft, which requires them to contact the Canadian bank and receive confirmation back, or something.

As I said - a right chew on.

Let my muppetry not be in vain.....

May you boldly go where no man (or woman or child) as gone before - as long as it works out ok.
