Here it's over 35C every day of the summer and just as humid starting in May until October.

We're thinking of moving back to a cool climate like Toronto!

I am like you. I moved from Alabama where the humidex can hit 45-50 most of the summer (March through November). It is even humid there in the winter! I definitely prefer the weather in Toronto. At least I know the heat won't last long and I have my A/C to use when it is too hot.

Living by the lake you do get periods of high humidity - it's part of the Canadian summer. Yes, some days are horrid - it's not nice being hot and sweaty but all you need to do crank up the air conditioning (if you don't have AC then go to a shopping mall for the afternoon) purchase an electric fan - put ceiling fans in rooms they work wonders to move the air about. Pools are great for cooling off, or a day trip to the lake. Have plenty of ice tea and ice lollies in stock. Cheers!

Really off-topic I know, but had to share this: I saw a Jeep Renogade the other day with "Hummer Rescue Squad" in three-inch high letters on the top of it's windscreen. Made me chuckle at the time.

A Jeep Grand Cherokee pulled on to out camp site last weekend, right next to our tent and promptly sank in the sand. I was delighted to be able to say "Do you need help ? I have a rope, and a Ford Mustang". They dug it out rather than accept a tow.

They'll be the ones who swapped your DEET for cheapo hair conditioner when they'd dug their car out...

Ah, then they have revenge, I'm just a mass of bumps and bites.
