HSBC Canada 'Passport' account launched

Some of you may find this useful, it seems to be based on the HSBC Passport account offered in the UK for the last few years and may be a simple way of opening an account, though you could open one of their other accounts if you wanted (just like before)

------------
HSBC Bank Canada has launched HSBC Passport, a new account package designed specifically for new immigrants and foreign workers in Canada.

HSBC Passport assists with the financial needs of new immigrants and foreign workers within their first two years of arriving in Canada. The offer includes a Performance Chequing Unlimited account free for six months allowing access to funds through Canada's second largest surcharge free automated banking machine (ABM) network at any HSBC Bank Canada and BMO Bank of Montreal ABMs.

Customers also have access to their funds through personal internet banking and telephone banking 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. They also receive free transactions on the HSBC Bank Canada High Rate Savings Account for one year, a $50 time-limited cash bonus for the Direct Savings Account, a 0.5 per cent bonus on certain guaranteed investment certificates, discounts on outbound telegraphic wire transfers and safety deposit boxes.
