I wonder what traffic wardens get paid

I'd say a six figure salary for engineers in Calgary isn't that unusual. I looked up the equivalent figures for the 70k and 79k incomes that were mentioned previously for Vancouver - they were 88k and 98k for Calgary I think. In Calgary I'd consider 70k pretty tight to support a family on but perhaps cost of living (excluding housing anyway) is higher?

Here it is crazy. In England, one would reckon on getting paid 25% of one's billings. Here it is nearer to 50%

Well, you're less scum that realtors and politicians, but more scum than traffic wardens and pretty much everyone else I can think of.

Thats arguable They enable realtors and many become politicians! That way they can screw whole nations at once instead of working one client at a time

Are the charge rates similar?

Are you saying that in the UK lawyers work on a 4X multiplier?

I can't think of how lawyers enable realtors. They would prefer that the realtors left the legal stuff to those that understand what they are putting forward for a client to sign.

No, in England, if a lawyer generates $100,000 worth of billings a year for the firm, s/he will be paid, roughly, $25,000 by the firm. Here, a lawyer would be paid $50,000.

Is there a general loathing of lawyers?? I can't say I have noticed it but then I have met a few in my past life as BFF is a lawyer. I even snogged a judge once.

He was a judge, one might say that that would be an elevated lawyer.
