My husband and I have just started looking into immigrating to Canada. We wanted to get an idea of how long it takes roughly from the initial application to actually being allowed to move there.

But a short answer is "it depends." It depends on where you are apply from, what immigrant category you are applying under and so forth. Again, better post questions on this in the immigration forum.
