How do we remember ...
reading over a few of the topics on this forum, and having a zillion and one things on my mind about our upcoming move to canada (its back for me and first time for my husband) ... ive often wondered if people tend to have this dreamy utopian outlook of their homeland once they move to a new place.
most people make such big moves in order to have a better life for themselves and their families. i guess what i really want to know is how many look back after a few years and romanticise about the country they left.. i.e. remember it for something it actually wasnt? ok enough philosophising :) |
Quite a few people I expect. Otherwise you would not get the bouncing across the Atlantic that some people seem to do! Go to Canada, leave for the Uk, arrive in the UK - hate it again, leave for Canada.....
Personally - glad to be gone - in no hurry to return!:D |

(ok...well maybe galaxy chocolate!) :) |
I wouldn't say I dream of moving back to England, however I miss the pubs, friends, culture, etc
I do dream of moving back to Cyprus some day if I can persuade my wife! Perhaps a move during the winter instead of a 45oC summer would work in her favour :D |
