How Bad is Air Canada Rouge?
unfortunately family matters make it look like I'm going to have to head back to the UK in the next couple of months.
a brief glimpse at the Air Canada website that most flights to the UK are now operated by Rouge.
just how bad are they compared to normal AC?
Also it seems that Transat don't fly into Birmingham any more? or can I just not use the web properly any more.
if any one fancies havign a search , i'm looking for direct flights to the UK , sometime in July.
My brother will be collecting me from airport, his preferences as to destination are "
B/Ham , then Heathrow , then East Midlands , then Gatwick , then Manchester , then Bristol , any further , then bring your walking shoes young lady." !!
ughh

Westjet fly into Birmingham but it's not non-stop
There's also this airline https://primeraair.ca/calendar/1/0/0...018/06/23/BHX/
I don't recall Air Transat flying to B/Ham - only to Manchester (where they still fly into). They have a seat sale on https://www.airtransat.com/en-CA/dea...YZ&pax=1-0-0-0

No, Westjet are a Canadian company based in Calgary, personally I like them.
Where in Canada are you flying from?
You will be VERY lucky to find any direct transatlantic flight into or out of BHX (would also be the best UK airport for us), the runway isnt really long enough given the fuel load for heavily loaded direct transatlantic flights I was told....

Try looking on Skyscanner, Zoe. I've been using them for a couple of years and have found them to be the best search engine for cheap flights. I've also heard that Iceland Air is good. They don't fly to BHX, but they do fly to LHR.

Her profile says Toronto, so I've chucked YYZ into the searches I did.

Toronto? TORONTO?? You will be spolied for direct flights to the UK. You should give up on BHX and do LHR. Personally I would fly Westjet, but we have found Air Canada have improved a lot in the last couple of years. In Ottawa, there is only one direct flight to the UK!

Re: How Bad is Air Canada Rouge?
The costs of a direct flight to Birmingham aren't worth it, you could afford to put your brother up in a hotel near Heathrow for a night and pay for all his gas and still save money, Heathrow is the cheapest option. If you want to fly into Birmingham I'd bite the bullet and get a connecting flight. I just typed in for the 3rd July to 17th July on Skyscanner, and the cheapest is Air Transat to Dublin and Air Lingus to Birmingham at C$1,226. 3 1/2 hour stopover in Dublin though.

I was seeing sub-£200 return flights from LHR though, it was crazy. Even the direct flights were much cheaper than those from Manchester.

Cheapest direct flight to London Heathrow from Toronto is $1377 leaving
Wednesday 4th July, returning 2 weeks later.
July and August are the most expensive times to fly.

Re: How Bad is Air Canada Rouge?
I've flown Air Canada Rouge (should be Rough) to Cuba. I don't know what the transatlantic flights are like, but the Caribbean ones are challenging. Hard seats, minimal leg room, minimal entertainment. I would look at regular Air Canada first, and Rouge is way down the list.

Thanks, I'm actually just back from Tokyo, a 12 hour flight that we did on AC normal. That was on the limits of bareable.
