We are also in the middle of looking for a neighbourhod to buy a house. Our family friend have given us a contact ( agent) to help with listings and OH will be going soon to buy one. Anyone living in Kinkora or what can you tell me about the area.

Kincora is in the Symons Valley area in the far northwest quadrant. By Calgary standards that neighbourhood is pretty far out, as rwin indicated.
Kinkora is in Prince Edward Island.

Inglewood is a neighbourhood in transition, as are Bridgeland, Hillhurst, West Hillhurst and a number of other inner communities.
If all you've looked at is 9th Ave and south of it, then Inglewood does look like quite a dump. However there are some very nice in-fills between 9th Ave and the river.

In terms of amenities and schools for the kids + I will like an exclusive + quite neithbourhood , does Kinkora have that ?

When it comes to exclusivity, how exclusive is exclusive enough for you? Kincora is not what I would call an exclusive community.

Kincora is a brand, brand new community. I don't think it even has schools yet. I think the kids from there are bused to other schools.

We're going after a 4 bed rental in Edgemont, really close by the Edgemont elementary school. Our friends have viewed the place & say it is a good, solid, large, clean, nice house. They don't know the neighbourhood though. They thought it looked nice & the house is in a very quiet cul-de-sac. the landlord said there will be an option to buy at the end of the years rental period too.
Does anyone know Edgemont? I have 3 kids - 2 will be at the elementary (one only for the year) the other will go to Sir Winston Churchill. They've all been privately educated in good schools here up until now. How do you rate our choice of location/ schools?

Both schools are very good with Sir Winston Churchill being considered one of the better high schools in the city.

Hi Judy, what I consider exculsive is if the neighbourhood is residential + on the quite side. We are moving at the end of the yr but OH will be working abroad until he gets a job in Calgary. We have 2 kids and am not working so am not drawn to looking for a house near down town

The Foothills is the major hospital in the city although each of the hospitals seems to specialise in different areas.
The FMC (Foothills Medical Centre) is the major trauma and cardiac care centre in the city. Also the Tom Baker Cancer Centre is located at the Foothills complex.

You may even enjoy one of Calgary's satellite towns, e.g., Cochrane or Okotoks.
I recommend against making a premature decision. You can create a short list of neighbourhoods on the Internet, but then you need to visit each of them in person and assess how much you like the vibe of each one.
