Almost 3 and a half years ... although as I landed a couple of months ahead of everyone else, I get seniority

I came into Expats alot when we appllied to move to Calgary, but found too many unhappy people. No-one seemed to ever get their PR. When we got this side of the water we found it a differnt story.

We have had a few friends that moved back to the UK, but hay thats life.
So do you meet any others in here for drinks?

I have a group of about 219 members

Got to admit that I don't ... I don't usually seek out other Brit expats ... most of the people I socialise with are Canadian or from some other bit of the world.

For some reason this forum seems to attract the unhappy ... the again, if I want to talk to happy Brit expats, I know plenty of those already

Same here, I seem to enjoy being around Canadians more then Brits... And I think that is a big problem for Brits when they come over here.. they look for other Britt's.

If I could give people one word of advice when they get to Canada.. MIX WITH CANADIANS..The more you get to know the easier things get for you. In the summer we all sit out the front of our houses and drink wine and have a great time… anyway great talking to you.. Off to Lethbridge Tomorrow to see a customer. See you around

Read a lot and contemplate your navel...lol....seriously though I don't hate Canada. I just have disappointed dreams in some aspects but in fairness some were fulfilled. My life experiences around the world will keep me amused in my old age. I mix with Canadians, my closest friend here is Canadian, second generation. I keep in contact with the rest of the world through the internet and have found a balance (of sorts). The single biggest motivator is my kids - they love it here and that is enough for me...for now.

I don't know how old you are - can you move? Can you travel? If you can - just go. The world is so huge; my only regret is that I wish I could live long enough to see the bits I will never get to.

Half a honk from the Fraser Valley....

I can't give my first answer, because it wasn't a wise response or a very polite one ... I guess you get to sit quietly while everyone else honks their horns??
