Homesickness
How long did it take you to get homesick? If at all!
Just wondering as we've been here 3 months now and not had one ounce of homesickness yet Early days though I know.
Does it just hit you one day? Or is it a gradual buildup?

Re: Homesickness
The last time I sat down and howled about being so far from home, was when a close friend of my parents died unexpectedly, and I knew how devastated they would be, and I just wished I could be there to give them a hug.
It's not a general feeling for me though. I really don't miss England at all for most of the time. Been here since October now.

Right now I'd go back in an instant.

Re: Homesickness
Other than Marmite-related issues and a deart of draft bitter, I've had nothing even remotely like homesickness in the last (almost) six years.

Re: Homesickness
I've had it since about two weeks after getting here. The move for us hasn't so far worked out as we would have liked so that no doubt plays a part. We arrived September 2004.

I'm totally serious.
The lack of sun for the last 36 hours. The fact that I still havent found a job I WANT to do. The fact the TV is crap.
I need a fix of English Chippy Stodge.

Can't comment on the job situ with you cos I don't know your story well enough
Why are you commenting on how crap the TV is? I thought you were a computer/BE addict like me anyway and wouldn't have much time for the telly
As for the chippy stodge fix....just peel and chip some tatties and deep fry 'em.....PROPER chips.
I mean I miss my former local Indian take-away....I'd kill for a good ol' Jalfrezi, Pillau & Peshwari naan......but it ain't enough to make me consider leaving this place.........either you're just having a downer today, or you're still pullin' my leg

Hey it's sunny in my back yard right now! We're moving into our new place on Monday, you can come and help build our basement!
I'm taking No 1 son to Calaway in a few, so I hope it stays a bit dry for them this weekend. They are alternating between getting sunburned and going rusty!
The not-having-a-job thing is a BIG deal you know .... you are post-Glaswegian, but anyone who remembers him will remember how EVERYTHING in Calgary was wrong til he landed a job that was exactly what he wanted. It really does colour things. He was going to move to GTA, he was going to go back to UK .... then suddenly he was happy as Larry (Y'know?,,,,that really happy guy!! ).
Things'll work out. I'll get Al to give you a call and you can join him in his solitary watches of soccer (ok football) on our big telly eh?
