Default Holiday \ Landing

We (4 of us 2 kids 11 and 6) are going to Canada on 15th August. We are planning 10 days in Calgary first and then 5 in Vancouver. While there we plan to Land as I picked up permanent visa's last week.

A have a couple of questions.

1 Landing I would like to arrange for a visas to be posted to an address in Canada but obviously won't be there long enough. Can I use a solicitor to have them posted to? Any ideas welcome.

Any recommendations on accomodation while holidaying would be greatfully received. I know we are probably not long enough there or unlikely to get a great feel for either area as we plan to be more holiday than reccie but its a start.

PS never been before so treat me as knowing nothing.

Tom

OK, was going to suggest a couple of places to stay whilst in the mountains if you were driving. When in Calgary where are you wanting to be located?

While in Calgary I want to check out the city itself and some other nearby areas such as Okotoks and Cochrane. I am not too fused about where we stay while there in August.

Just somewhere that allows us to have a base. Requirements are probably somewhere quiet and out of town (but not too far)

Head towards the south end of McLeod, if you only want a basic ish hotel then try the Wingate Inn. You are pretty much on the edge of Calgary then and have easy access to the 22x to head out west towards Bragg Creak and the mountains and also only 15 minutes drive to Okotoks, Cochrane is probably 30 minutes. C-Train access to get downtown easily too.

Thanks for the advise. Will have a look around that area. Can you recommend a holiday house rental rather than hotels?

Good choice. Super 8 on the other side of McLeod is also cheap and cheerful and very close to Walmart and no end of pizza and fast food places. It also has an indoor pool to keep the kiddies amused.

Best of luck

Hi Tom,

Congratulations on getting your visas.

Some good suggestions from the previous respondents above. If you send us a Private Message, we might be able to suggest some non hotel based solutions for you to consider as an alternative.

Kind regards,

Eamonn & Janet.
