Default hockey and health cover

Considering that i was planning on practically walking from the aeroplane wearing my hockey skates.....

... I heard concerning news that many health care providers do not allow such sporting endeavours for a new comer's first 3 months.

This is of significance to me, what with BC medicare being witheld for the same period of time.

Is this true or a wind up?

Thanks
