hi, new post - is 18mth emigration plan realistic?

Hi BE, been looking at site for a couple of months now and have finally decided to post a thread. Fantastic amount of information, experiences and personal feelings expressed by you all.

Anyway, looking at moving from northern england to ON and would like to be in place by july 2010. My wife is a qualified gynaecology nurse and is also about to graduate as a community health visitor (BAhons). We're hoping to get over there on the basis that my wife's profession is in demand. Thinking of areas such as Cambridge, Waterloo, Burlington etc... What are they like?? I am a current serving police officer and would ideally like to transfer into an ON police service, however i believe i'd have to apply from scratch and wouldn't be able to do so until we get perm res status. I previously spent 14 years in plastic and engine manufacturing as a 1st line manager for a multi-national motor manufacturer and would be quite happy to go back into a similar type of employment. Are any of my skills in demand??
I did initially look at the prospects of Calgary and thought about sending my resume to the Calgary police service, however I really think ON would be a better option for my family.

Also we have a 12 year old and would like to get her into school before she starts 1st year at snr high (she'd be 14 june 2010).

Any replies to any of the above would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for reading - Mark :)

Hello Mark  Glad you've made it out of the lurking area and let us know what your plans are.

If you've been lurking for a few months then hopefully you've taken the time to read the WIKI and have a basic knowledge of what goes on in each Province. I know nothing about Ontario or Nursing or Policing but there are seperate threads here about your individual professions

It is also useful to look at the NOC for Ontario.

Good luck
