Hi folks
Just a quick note to say hi folks and in the coming months/years we look forward to maybe calling some of you people friends. We're right at the very start of the process of trying to move to Ontario so initially we are going to have lots of questions, but that's for later.
For now we'd just like to say we look forward to meeting you all online and possibly one day sharing a beer at Joe Kools in London. Take it easy Gill n Mike :D |

Re: Hi folks
Hi,
Hubby David and I stopped for a meal and a few drinks in Joe Kools in London last summer. It was opposite the Delta London Armories Hotel and next door to Mac's Milk. Is that the one you mean? We had a great night, huge steak, pitcher of beer, staff there were really friendly. We're moving to Canada next summer. Not sure if it will be Ontario or Nova Scotia yet though. David was born in Toronto but moved back to the UK when he was nine. We were in Ontario last summer on a recce trip and fell in love with the Kingston area. In March we're going to have a look at Nova Scotia. We've read such great reports about it we feel we have to check it out. Cheers, Sarah |

Cheers, Sarah We don't blame you likeing the Kingston Area its really nice there, near to Ganonoque? Gill went to Kingston a few years back, went into the Pharmacy to talk with the Pharmasist who was from Merseyside originally! Small world! We would imagine Nova Scotia would be beautiful but a bit colder than Southern Ontario! Yes that is the Joe Cools we speak of in London, we were there in October last, similarly enjoying pitchers of beer and steak on skillets, they do good nachos too! Keep us up to date with your plans, nice to hear from you Mike n Gill |

I currently work in the uk as a Systems Administrator, i am not necessarily looking for that kind of work over in Canada but something similar where i can use those skills would be useful, my cousin holds a high position for Greyhound Buses over in Toronto, he has already offered for Mike to take an interview with Greyhound to become a driver, although Mike is trying to get into health care in the uk as a transferrable skill, so he has some options. I'm not sure quite what I want to do yet, but i'll try anything! We are hoping that if we can both get job offers we can get there quicker were hoping that in 2 years we will be there but we will be patient if it takes a little longer. I have experience in personnel and some technical knowledge but most of what I do is front end user support and statistical reporting, I don't have formal qualifications but do have 9 years experience. This is what i find difficult to work out which boxes to tick on the immigration application, we have downloaded the application forms but not yet completed them! London is a really nice place and so close to other areas around like Port Stanley and Stratford, only two hours from Toronto, Niagara Falls and Niagara on the lake too! Seems like a good central point for all! Look forward to hearing from you. Take care Gill x |

Take care Gill x OH is in secure sytems ( looks after the big boys ) I don't know exactly what he does just know he is good at it :D What does Mike do in Health care or do you mean he is looking into starting with health care ? i do know some people in Buppa as in management so could sound out for you ? If i was you from what i have read i would take the interview with Greyhound that sounds like a fab stepping stone, you can get a work permit and your PR should be fast tracked so you can then both find the jobs you want to do or retrain to whats needed. unless you can get a test with an interview, as they do here you may have a problem with your current work, unless you can go in lower and show them what you can do, you said 2 years did you not want to go before ? PM me if you want cheers sue |
