Can't believe I have only just discovered this site! (I have been researching canada on the internet since 2004!)
Anyway, me, and my family (hubby & 3 children) will be moving to Vancouver in August. We applied for a skilled workers visa in january 05, and my husband picks up our visas tomorrow :)
I am looking forward to being a member of this group!

Theres loads of people on here living or moving to Vancouver so if you need to know anything im sure you,ll find it on here.

My OH and I are planning on BC, probably VI but depends on jobs. Where in Vancouver are you headed to?

Wish one of us did have a job offer, but alas no, we are leaving nice area, good jobs, nice house and good schools to.... ?? an adventure into the unknown!! I am a registered qualified childminder here, and have done half the ECE qualification I need to set up a daycare in BC, and my OH is a video editor. Just hoping it wont be too long before we find work. We are headed to the Northshore, but have yet to find a house.

Yep, I have a feeling that you may be my competition for the nursing jobs on VI. :p :D
Did you respond to the VIHA and Nurse Vancouver ads in the nursing press too?

Have you been on Vancouver Hospital website: www.vch.ca/jobs/index.htm thay are short of nurses. I work there and my unit there was 5 lines( to you jobs) not covered. There are other hospital, St. Paul's hospital in Vancouver and Lions gate Hospital, Women's hospital, Children's Hospital. It depends where are going to Live??????

Yes! I saw them in rcn bulletin and applied online I've had emails to let me know they've been received and one from VIHA who asked when I'd be in for them to ring..........and then nothing.
What have you heard? we're in the same field:) so thats good but we can see whats happening.

Don't fret - you're not the only one slow on the uptake. I was researching Canada in 2004, and only found the site at the beginning of 2007......we land in Vancouver a week on Sunday.......without jobs too....so we'll let you know how we go!

Good luck with your move... have you found somewhere to live? I am going to go out for a weekend at the end of June for that reason, as it would be very expensive to stay in a hotel as there are 5 of us, so we would need 2 rooms. We also need a permanent address to get the kids into school. Let me know how you get on!
