Hi Sam,
Just wondering what sort of reaction you received from family and friends, how did you tell them, i don't want everyone to keep asking about it all the time, so not sure when we should tell them. having family there must be nice, our nearest are in Seattle and LA cheers sue Our family and friends were happy both here & in Canada, as we had told them that we were looking to emigrate, and likewise they were happy when we shared the good news too. If anyone ever asked how we were getting on, we always said that it's still in process, and that we're still waiting to hear, as this was the truth. After a while, they stopped asking as it was the same reply each time. It certainly will be a help, with having family close by. But my wife & I agree, that we need to be polite with the family not to wrap us up in cotton wool, and that we need to learn things for ourselves, so we settle! We know it's going to be tough, and lots of '...have we done the right thing...'questions, saying that, they only mean well, and all advice shall be appreciated. Sam |

Sam I am sure we are doing the right thing, just wish i could scoop up all ( some ) of my family and friends and take them with us, I expect we will have ups and downs all the way and when we get there, lifes like that. We have made some good progress with meetings for our visit in a couple of weeks, even had a job offer but too soon and not enough dosh even by Canadian standards ( we need to sell our house first ) and have other commitments here at the moment. A friend (who will prob be on here now i have told her about this forum ) told me on monday they are putting in there applications for Canada, funny thing is neither of us have ever mentioned it, let us know how you get on, cheers sue like you, any joy on that front ? hope it picks up soon, |
