Hello everyone, another newbie!!
 

Hi folks, I've finally taken the plunge and decided to say hello and become an active member of BE after looking through numerous threads and posts for almost a year. My partner and I are hoping to relocate to Canada in the next year and have our sights set on Prince Edward Island probably through pnp. Would like to hear from anyone with any info on life on PEI and anyone who's been through the pnp process.

Hi we are in Alberta but gained residency in Saskatchewan through the PNP program. It was fairly straight forward, if you have a job offer and the employer is willing to apply for the LMO then the WP will arrive in anything from 1 - 12 weeks. The Sask PNP allows you to apply for PR after six months of employment, The whole process took us 15 months from landing in Canada but we have friends that took 22 months to gain PR. It's still better than the 4+ yrs it takes from the UK as a skilled worker. Hope this was of some help and welcome to BE, Sharon.

Thank you for your post Sharon, I've done some research into PNP and it seems like the best option for us, We've been thinking about relocating for several years now and felt a bit disheartened by the long 4+ year wait. Your information has given me new hope that moving sooner rather than later is a very likely possibility. Did you stay in Saskatoon long before moving to Alberta? Eme.

Welcome to the forum. I am new too. Though I am in Afghanistan at the moment I live in New Brunswick and went to PEI for some leave about a onth ago. It is a beautiful spot. I looked at thier immigration site as well as it has loads of useful information. They have a very particular (but large) requirement of skilled labour, have you seen the list? Having read through and talked to a few people it seems that if you have one of those skill sets then you are on to a good thing. Good luck.

PEI remingde me a lot of Ireland. It was very green , they grew lots of potatoes and the people are very friendly and relaxed. We mostly did the tourist stuff, but thoroughly enjoyed it. They have a summer tourist season that brings a lot of money to the Island and there were lots of B&Bs and houses for sale. It looked like it could be a bit severe in the winter, but that is just my impression, not fact.

They have a big section of the trans Canada route which is excellent. They took up the train line and developed the trackway into a well maintained path.

I work with a couple of guys from PEI and if you have any specific questions I would be happy to ask them to give specific answers.

Thanks NB Sue, from what you described PEI sounds really lovely. I'm looking forward to visiting on our reccie trip this fall. I've looked at the skills list and there are some interesting opportunities in my partners field as well as mine, I've also checked out the houses and We like what we've seen so far
