Default Healthcare in Alberta While I Apply For Permanent Residence and the Work Permit

Hello!

I am a UK citizen who married a Canadian citizen last month. I plan to immigrate to Canada to live with my Canadian wife. I hope to go to Alberta and then apply for the Inland Spousal Sponsorship for Permanent Residence with the Open Work Permit. It seems it can take up to twelve months for the application for PR to be processed. In the mean time, what happens if I have to see a doctor? I am lucky to be in good health. However, I want to do all the right things before I move to Alberta.

Would you tell me how soon I could get Alberta's healthcare when I apply for the Permanent Residence and Open Work Permit?
Where could I find out accurate information on this topic?

I would appreciate your advice and information.

Thank you

See my post on your other thread for info on inland apps. But as a visitor you won’t be eligible for any healthcare, so you’d need good insurance.

For accurate info on the topic, this is the official website - https://www.alberta.ca/ahcip-eligibility.aspx

HTH.
