Health insurance, help
Hi all,
This is my first time ever applying for a visa to Canada and basically I wanted to know if any of you could give me some recommendations or advice on health insurance, I have never had health insurance before so I have no clue on what type of coverage I'm after, if anyone could help it would be appreciated
Such as the schemes that are not too pricey but provide you with the right amount of coverage. Or some well recognized names.
Thanks in advance, Jake.

Re: Health insurance, help
Hey Jake, I am looking into this myself actually, all i want is a cheap general medical/health insurance (12 months), not bothered about personal belongings/missed flights..etc (however most cover this as standard)
My advice: If your going on a one-way ticket make sure they allow this. If you are planning a visit/s back home at any point in your trip make sure it has that option too. Generally the rest depends on what excess you pay or what sport activities you wanna do...etc.
I am looking into Budget Backpacker Insurance...

Maybe someone in the know could add a section to the wiki to cover those on working holiday visas? Not sure how provincial coverage etc applies to them. I know in Ontario its a little complicated for those on some kinds of work permits.

I came on a 12 mth working holiday visa initially and I used AMEX. If you are on a WHV you need to be aware that the insurance you get has to be approved by BUNAC. The insurance you need should cover you if you get injured whilst working and you may need winter sports coverage too depending on what you get up to whilst here.
