Default Health Care Insurance - Edmonton

Hi,
I'm heading to Edmonton in January and would appreciate if anyone could recommend a private health care insurance provider / plan?
It is for my baby son who is not yet a permanent resident (my wife and I are).
I'm looking for a product that covers doctor appointments as well as hospital costs.
As for my wife and I, would welcome any suggestions as how to go about registering for provincial public health care (address in downtown / costs, etc.). Again, we already have permanent resident cards and social insurance numbers. I've got employment but it is a temp position (so am not getting health care costs paid for for at least a few months))
Appreciate any help for this newcomers from London.

As far as I understand everyone in your family is covered under Alberta Health Care from the moment you arrive.

So I don't see why you would need different coverage for your child who would be considered a dependent.

Starting January 1st, 2009 the government is eliminating health care premiums, so no worries there.

Common questions regarding Alberta Health Care

Hope this helps.

Hi Steve,

Thanks a lot for the info. I think you are right and that is very good news. For peace of mind, I'll double-check with AHCIP. Thank you again for the link.
