Hazing or Froshing???!
Hi folks
We are nearing our move to Calgary in Feb ish!!! And I have been looking into schools. Discussions regarding Hazing or Froshing seem to keep coming up in the media, stating that grade 10's get initiated into senior school with violent assaults. Has anyone come across this first hand? Sounds pretty awful. Any comments would be good. S unsure:

I haven't heard anything about any incidents in Calgary for quite some time. I honestly don't remember the last time it has come up in the local media.
It's certainly not something that any school with either board would condone.

Oh yes. Grade 10's are commonly referred to as "fags" and have to undergo sexual humiliation from the 12 graders and make them toast in the senior common room.

I don't know what's involved but they apparently make them gargle the national anthem.

hazing and froshing is something that normally goes on at college or university. For example when I was at university years ago there was a frosh week where new students had to undergo various activities that were mildly humiliating. I think hazing has more negative connotations.

Thanks for the explanation, it doesn't sound like it's a major problem that anyone has come across so I guess it's a case of too much information on the net!!!
