I cannot recommend UK2NovaScotia highly enough!
We have been working with them since 2007 and they have provided us with outstanding advice and information throughout that time. We make the big move to NS next month and Mike at UK2NS is currently researching rental properties for us. Rather than try and push us to expensive, or over-priced properties, he has actually helped us to establish exactly how much we can afford and has been emailing us links to ads on Kijiji, as well as actually visiting potential properties, taking photographs and negotiating the rent down for us (sadly on a property that we weren't happy with).
Nothing that UK2NS have ever done for us has (or will) ever cost us a penny (or a cent)! Yes, they ask you to use their realtors, but they have gone out of their way for us on numerous occasions and we are only too happy to ensure that they actually make something for their troubles by earning a commission when we purchase a property.
They have various arrangements with the companies that they work with - most I believe simply pay UK2NS a small yearly fee in return for their referrals...it makes no difference to UK2NS how many people choose the use the service. However, they carefully research the services before they will affiliate themselves with them, to ensure that they are reliable and provide good service. The realty side of things is doubtless the big earner, but I have read good reports on their realtors and the way the Canadian realty service works means that this doesn't limit what (or where) you can buy and you don't pay the realtors anything, the vendor does!
This is our experience - I would suggest that you make contact yourself and make up your own mind. There is no contract to sign and you are essentially free to work with them as much or as little as you wish.
