In town for a BT next week. Any recommendations on local watering holes and places to grab good food are highly recommended.

Cheers.

Your father's moustache on Spring Garden Road, is good. Salty's pub in the Historic Properties, good and Stayners on the wharf - good. :D

Enjoy

Midtown Tavern Grafton St.

Decor - Early Canadian Disaster
Food - Cheap but lots of grease and tasty.

Old Triangle is a good Irish Bar and does some good pub food www.oldtriangle.com. Henry House on Barrington St, downstairs is great and does some good local beers. The Fireside is cosy and nice for a drink, wouldn't neccesarily recommend their main courses but their snacks (or 'kindling' as they call it) are good.

If you like Thai, Talay Thai on Barrington is fantastic. For Sushi - Moyamoya on barrington is good for a spot of lunch

Thanks! Went to the Lord Nelson yesterday for a Kobe burger.

Off to a steakhouse in beautiful Dartmouth tonight.

Will try the Press Gang tomorrow.

Try the surf and turf in The Bluenose II just south of the bus stops on Barrington street and north of the historic properties; it was gorgeous! Mmmmmm, surf and surf.

There are tons of fab places to eat and drink in Halifax but if you're willing to push the boat out one night then you have got to go to Onyx which is on Spring Garden Road!! It is my hubby and my favourite restaurant of all time and we have quite high expectations when it comes to eating out (probably coz his Dad was a chief and we are used to the best)!

I have to say I would second Paul and Dawn's recommendation of Onyx on Spring Garden. We've only been once but it was an amazing meal, excellent service and a really nice atmosphere.

Along the same sort of lines are FID on Dresden Row and Chives on Barrington St...they're great too...but Onyx has probably been my favourite.
