I hope this won't be considered spam, but I think this site would be great for those coming to Canada, that can't bring all of their stuff, like computer desks, kitchenware, furniture, clothing, electronics..etc.
www.freecycle.org is in North America, the UK and a few places in Europe, and its basically a free site set up in your area, for giving stuff away, that normally would be tossed in the trash. It's to keep stuff from being thrown into landfills, as much as possible. Just sign up through Yahoo and check for stuff in your area.
I've gotten stuff like a computer, blender, cd player and futon covers. Anything that someone no longer wants, will list it on the site and you can email them asking for the item. Also, if you want something you can put a "wanted" ad out and somebody might want to help you out. Best of all, everything is free!
Again, I thought this would be something everyone can use and hopefully this won't be deleted.
